This fast paced interactive session will present strategic actions that operational and clinical leadership can take to prepare for the 2022 final rule. Related topics will also be discussed related to MDS coding protocols and database review. The changes in the data use, accuracy standards and payment changes demand the industry understand the content of the final rule and implementation for database review influencing payment and documentation. Specific operational and clinical approaches will be discussed and case studies presented to illustrate the issues. Audit activity on Part A Medicare cases is increasing on Skilled Nursing claims. This session will identify the current audit activity in the SNF and focus of audit requests. All facilities need to be prepared for additional documentation requests and have a policy and process to answer requests and review the quality and accuracy of their facility database.
Objectives:
1) Review the key changes implemented by the FY 2022 Final Rule
2) Identify specific operational and clinical processes that the rule requirements change.
3) Discuss responsibilities of IDT members that will change or be modified by the implementation of the Final Rule.
4) Discuss the impact of the payment rate changes in the Final Rule on PDPM rate calculations
