Strategies to Audit and Evaluate Current MDS 3.0 Data Formulation, Coding and Transmission Processes
The conversion from October 1, 2023 to the MDS 1.18.11 data set must begin with an honest evaluation of the accuracy of the facility data base. This interactive session will present easy formats for data
base accuracy evaluation. Updating training and data documentation formats will be discussed and demonstrated with specific case studies and data review. This session designed to present pro active
efficient strategies for operational and clinical leadership, MDS nurses and IDT members. The importance of current policy review and staff competency documentation will be a focus as well as regulatory requirements. Proper review and preparation for the changes impacting the data formulation process on October 1, 2023 must begin with the honest evaluation of the current data management process. A must do session for corporate managers administrators, clinical leadership, MDS nurses and financial managers.
Objectives:
1. Discuss the importance of auditing the data formulation, coding and transmission process as an operational responsibility.
2. Review the specific sections of the MDS 3.0 version 1.18.11 that will add or change data definitions or content.
3. Describe training and competency documentation necessary to prepare the MDS staff and IDT for the changes.
4. Establish a timeline for any additional conversion preparation process.
