Restorative services are a necessary component of care giving to help elders maintain and improve functional status after skilled rehab services for unexpected decline. The wellness approach to care should influence services and care planning. This session will review the terminology, structure and definitions of Restorative services. Implications for care planning and payment programs will be discussed with case examples. Active
Restorative programs can improve functional outcomes and interfere with immobility and ADL loss. This session will review the structure of the program, documentation and important quality related statistics. Training and competency documentation is a
very important part of staff involvement with restorative planning and service delivery. Specific suggestions for training and competency and staff competency documentation will be reviewed. A must do program for all operational and clinical managers.
Objectives:
1. Review the history for Restorative care giving.
2. Identify the components of a Restorative program that are necessary to improve quality outcomes.
3. Describe the wellness base care planning and service delivery process that interferes with decline and support independence.
4. Discuss competency, training and testing to prepare staff to deliver Restorative intervention.
5. Discuss audits of outcome statistics and data to support Restorative program.
