Overview of the NEW MDS 3.0 v 1.18.11 – October 1, 2023

This session for operational, clinical and MDS managers will review the newly released MDS 3.0 assessment tool draft released 9/2/22. All facility teams will need to understand the coding and documentation challenges with the implementation of the expanded assessment process. The discussion will focus on the new coding items as well as the items that will be removed from the assessment document. All currently published information supporting the changes will be discussed with strategies for planning and educational programs.

Objectives:

1) Identify the section by section changes on the MDS 3.0 v 1.18.11 draft

2) Discuss the changes in the current assessment document – items changed and deleted

3) Review the possible changes in the PDPM payment systems – pro active review!

4) Describe the changes to documentation tools and data formulation policies to properly code new data items

5) Discuss implications for data accuracy for the members of the Interdisciplinary Team
