MDS 3.0 Interviewing Skills for Social Workers & Professionals
Course Description:
The MDS 3.0 assessment process includes a number of interviews and tests that need to be completed during the assessment reference period. Social workers and activity professionals usually complete these interviews and document the results in the MDS assessment data base. This fast moving session will identify all 6 interviews included in the RAI process and discuss the specifics of each of the assessment tasks involved. The RAI Manual has very specific steps or the assessment that pertain to each interview. We will review each of the tasks and the updated coding instructions as well as the requirements for documentation of the tasks in the medical record. The RAI manual also has general interview instructions and scoring directions for the Mood Interview which will be explained with case examples. The New MDS Accuracy Survey Protocols which are currently being used in Ohio as part of the state survey process will be discussed. The new survey tasks do focus on the interview process and accuracy of the data on the MDS. This session will be very interactive and discuss specific directions and definitions that are presented in the RAI Manual that are problematic for the members of the team competing the interviews. A very comprehensive review of the issues and the tasks related to the interview process. This is a must do session for Social Workers, Activity professionals and MDS Managers.
