Managing the Transition to the MDS 3.0 1.18.11

and Changes to the PDPM Payment System

Every facility management team needs to develop a strategy to manage the transition to the new data set (1.18.11). Much of the new data that has been added to the assessment builds on current data requirement and regulations. This session will leave the participants through the development of a process for adding new data formulation processes to a compliance accurate data collection system. New items or timeline for collection data will require specific new documentation processes, including education and policy development. Specific efficient strategies will be presented to facilitate this process. New team members may need to have specific targeted training prior to the implementation of the new assessment tool. This is a must do session for operational, financial and clinical managers. Case studies and documentation tools will be reviewed as preparation for the transition. Specific MDS items that will impact the PDPM payment system will also be identified and documentation processes for those items will be discussed.

Objectives: 1. Identify the key data items that must be accurate to serve as a base for new data coding.

2. Review current documentation requirements and accuracy standards for MDS 3.0 data.

3. Discuss training compliance documentation steps to prepare staff for the new assessment process.

4. Review current data formulation processes and identify modifications for new data collections.

5. Design an interdisciplinary approach for the transition to the 1.18.11 MDS 3.0 for the facility team.
