A NEW PROGRAM FOR A NEW YEAR!
Achieving MDS Data Accuracy for Accurate PDPM Payments
Many facilities are realizing that their Part A Medicare payment does not reflect the cost of care. Audits reveal that MDS coding is not complete or accurate - resulting in significant payment loss. This interactive session will review the data formulation process for the MDS items that impact the payment rate calculation. Full discussion of the coding guidelines, definitions and timelines for data collection will be included. Documentation formats for reproducible data in the medical record will be reviewed. The data formulation policy development will also be discussed. A must do session for administrators, clinical leadership, finance and MDS managers. Bring your team for practical specific information with examples of documentation and audit formats.
OBJECTIVES:
1) Identify the MDS data items that are currently not being coded correctly as a result of audit reports.
2) Compare base rate payment changes when specific MDS data coding accuracy is improved.
3) Discuss the specific Sections of the RAI manual that direct coding, timing and accuracy.
4) Review the role of operations, clinical leadership, finance and MDS management to improve data accuracy and proper payment.
