2024 Update – Compliance and Ethics Guidelines for Skilled Facilities- Healthcare Fraud Enforcement and Ethical Implications
This interactive session will review the key components of the newly formulated Compliance Guidelines published by the OIG in November, 2023. These guidelines follow the specific requirements in the Regulatory Tag in the State Operations Manual but also contain additional policy and human resources examples. The content in this large and detailed document from the OIG presents many new definitions and very specific case examples which will be reviewed and documented for the participants. This interactive session will also discuss the ethical implications of the new compliance guidance for operational and clinical professionals. Specific case examples will be included to illustrate appropriate communications and policies. A must do session for operational and clinical leadership as well as corporate managers.
Objectives:
1) Identify structure of Compliance Programs required for regulatory compliance
2) Review references to large and small operational platforms with requirements
3) Discuss the new specific requirements for leadership and staff education with documentation
4) Review expanded requirements and specific examples of non- compliance in the guidance documents that providers must address to be compliant
5) Describe process to self- report non compliance
6) List specific correlations to ethical requirements for Healthcare Executives to maintain high standards of professional competence
