The dawn of a new year brings opportunities for operational, financial, and clinical managers to improve documentation processes, update and refresh training materials and research federal audit and compliance oversight. The fourth quarter of 2021 revealed some new regulatory activity and audit reports that identified new CMS initiatives . This interactive session will review three strategic areas for operational focus and clinical co-ordination to : 1. Review PDPM payment rates 2. Evaluate documentation quality and 3. Spot check audit focus data and claims. Using her broad experience to present actual case studies as well as current federal reports, the session will describe approaches and formats for evaluation and audit process documents to illustrate actions that will diminish risk and improve compliance. Policy development for all areas of service delivery and documentation will also be discussed. A must do session for operational, clinical , financial and MDS managers.
Objectives:
1. Identify structural and regulatory changes that will influence PDPM rate setting and audits in 2022.
2. Describe documentation formats that currently support payment during external audit reviews.
3. Review training material content that defines competency and includes current regulatory standards and updates.
4. Define policy and procedure content for data formulation and coding to respond to current federal regulations and coding requirements.
5. Discuss updated compliance documents and requirements for the IDT and identify the documents and instructions needed by team members.
