Course Description:
This highly interactive program will identify the changes to the MDS 3.0 form and process which was implemented by CMS in October 2013. The discussion will include the definitional additions to the therapy section as well as the changes to the manual and scheduling. A MUST DO session for operational and clinical managers as well as MDS nurses and consultants. Come hear one of the industry's most articulate speakers explain the changes and operational approaches. This will be an intensive review of RAI changes

Objectives:
  • Identify the format and content of the MDS 3.0 that was implemented on October 1, 2013.
  • Review the requirements for scheduling MDS assessments and combination of assessments. Scheduling changes and definitions of assessments have significant impact on MDS office staffing and work load.
  • Describe the definitions and coding changes in Section O - Therapy minutes. The addition of co-treatment documentation and calendar days of therapy will change the content and format of the therapy reporting to the MDS office.
  • Review the prospective payment changes in the CMS final payment rule for 2013-2014 including the impact of coverage definitions and the addition of co-treatment minutes.
